But in some part of the world cherries are a rare choice. The people living in those areas, who don't want to pay huge medical expenses they can't afford, try other gout cures. One of those remedies is charcoal.

Charcoal reduces the effects of gout drastically and is even said to eliminate it completely. Some people eat charcoal mixed with water or take a charcoal bath. To prepare the bath, mix charcoal powder in a tub of warm water, then sit inside for an hour soaking the painful joint.

As with many afflictions, the best way to reduce your risk of gout is by eating healthily and exercising regularly. Without exercise, your blood circulation remains slow and that can accelerate gout; therefore, it's important to have an active lifestyle.

Consuming lost of water is another gout cure you should try. Water helps your body eliminate the uric acid that builds up and forms crystals in your joints, causing the infamous pain associated with gout. So drink plenty of water every day to wash the toxins out of your bloodstream.

There are also over-the-counter medications that can be used as gout cures in case of an attack. There is Febuxostat, which has recently been approved by the US FDA. Cortisone is also used in case of an acute attack.

Eating foods that are too rich in protein without balancing your diet with greens, fruits, and lots of fluids can also be a catalyst for gout. Such foods include red meat and organ meat. The best foods involve lots of fiber, water, fruits, vegetables and white meats. Eating lots of red meat with little vegetables is a sure recipe for a gout attack.
