Careful planning to conceive a child includes knowing when you ovulate. The reason for this is simple; knowing when ovulation occurs allows you to plan intercourse during the time when you are most likely to get pregnant. Studies have shown that intercourse during the right window of opportunity greatly increases your chances of becoming pregnant. In fact, intercourse at the wrong time is said to be the primary cause of failing to get pregnant. There are many signs that indicate ovulation. There are also many ways that you can test for changes that occur in the body before and during ovulation.
During a regular menstrual cycle, there are hormonal changes which are reflected in your body. Every month these hormones cause one egg to mature and be released. Three hormones stimulate this process, gonadotropic hormones (GH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). For example, following the initial rising estrogen levels, luteinizing hormone (LH) levels peak between 12 to 36 hours prior to ovulation.
Finding out when you're ovulating, by measuring the rise in LH can be simple with an ovulation test. These tests measure the amount of lutenizing hormone in your urine, which is one of the more accurate and scientific methods you can use to work out when you are most fertile. Although there are many fertility test kits on the market, the more pricey kits are more straight forward to work out, and give you pretty much similar results to what you could get with a laboratory.
Some women prefer monitor their fluctuating hormone levels by measuring the changes in their saliva, as this is another sign of ovulation. You can buy test kits that assist you is identifying whether you're ovulating, based on the composition of your saliva. If you combine the saliva test with the urine test, you will achieve a greater accuracy in predicting ovulation.
Prior to ovulation, cervical mucus also changes. It becomes more profuse, and may look similar to egg whites, clear and slippery. Once you have ovulated, the mucus will become cloudy or may even stop altogether. Although this observation method is simple and inexpensive, it may be hard to tell what is happening with your secretions. You are also required to get at the secretions to examine them. Cramping right before ovulation can be an indicator for some women, but not all women have cramps before their period.
Predicting your most fertile time of month, by checking your cervical mucus and looking at fluctuations in your hormone levels is more suitable if you do not have irregular periods. If there is a problem with your menstrual cycle - and this can include irregularities, excessively heavy periods, light periods, or no periods at all, then you need to take action to regulate your cycle. One recommendation I make that has proven very successful is to balance the hormones with herbal cleansing and herbs that increase the fertility such as Fertil Plus.
To sum things up, check the changes in your hormone levels and cervical mucus, to work out your most fertile time of the month. If your hormones are out of balance because of a reproductive disorder, then try balancing your hormones with a body cleanse and a herbal remedy like the one I mentioned earlier. Doing these two steps will help you to ovulate like clockwork, and will increase the effectiveness of any efforts you make in identifying the signs of ovulation, and having the healthy, happy baby you deserve.
